The Tennessee Volunteers entered the spring dangerously thin at running back as Jalen Hurd and Alvin Kamara were the only listed scholarship players at the position on the roster. With incoming recruit Joseph Young now on campus and signee John Kelly expected before the fall, the position doubled in depth this summer and now comes Cincinnati graduate transfer running back Ralph David Abernathy.
Abernathy is the brother of incoming Volunteer signee Micah Abernathy and strangely enough, has already played for Butch Jones while he was the coach was at Cincinnati before taking over the Tennessee program.
