Tennessee just can’t shake the injury bug. This time, another starting linebacker is headed for the sideline for the rest of the season.

Coach Butch Jones announced at his weekly news conference Monday that senior Cortez McDowell is expected to miss the rest of the regular season because of a wrist injury. McDowell’s injury is believed to be similar in nature to the injury that has sidelined starting wide receiver Jauan Jennings.

His injury adds to the Vols’ woes on defense. Tennessee already is without its top defensive player, junior linebacker Darrin Kirkland Jr., who is expected to miss the rest of the year.
