Tennessee pitcher Kyle Serrano was selected in the 10th round of the 2017 MLB Draft by the Houston Astros on Tuesday.
Over his career, Serrano threw 127 innings with a record of 8-10, a 4.39 ERA and a .234 BAA.
However, Serrano has played in only 10 games in the past two season combined due to injury. He is eligible to elect to return to Tennessee for his redshirt senior season rather than sign with Houston.
Serrano was listed at #93 in Baseball America’s Top 100 Draft Prospects entering the 2017 season, so he may feel it beneficial to return to Tennessee and attempt to raise his draft status.
