For the first time in 13 years, the Tennessee Lady Vols and UConn Huskies will face off in a regular season matchup. The once fierce rivalry that dominated women’s college basketball is back, even as the programs are in completely different places.
Despite those different places, though, this is a top 25 matchup. Also, eight of the 13 national championships since the two last played have gone to one of these schools, even if that’s skewed with UConn winning six of them, all of which are more recent than Rocky Top’s most recent national titles.
Still, this is a game that matters to everybody.
