After coming up just short against the Kentucky Wildcats in the SEC Tournament championship, Tennessee basketball enters NCAA Selection Sunday with a bittersweet taste. The Vols should be thrilled about being there. But they could have had more.
Going into Sunday, Rick Barnes’s team was in the Top 10 of the RPI. They would have almost certainly been a two-seed had they beaten the Wildcats to win the tournament.
However, as it stands, they are likely looking at a three-seed now. It’s still much better than anybody thought at the beginning of the season, though.
