Jeremy Pruitt’s 1st spring at Tennessee may be a difficult one

A new era begins when Tennessee opens spring practice Tuesday under first-year coach Jeremy Pruitt. The “new era” thing has become the norm in Knoxville: Pruitt is the fourth coach since 2009.

UT’s roster is a bit of a mystery because of all the dysfunction in Knoxville under former coach Butch Jones. The Vols were 4-8 overall and winless in the SEC last season, widely considered the worst season in UT history. But there is reason for hope.

Jones was lauded for his recruiting but questioned about his player development. It’s quite possible that the Vols could be much better than their record indicated last season.
