KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- One of Tennessee’s and the WNBA’s all-time great players, Tamika Catchings, is headed back to the Olympics for the fourth time. The news became official Wednesday morning, as the 2016 U.S. Olympic Team was announced in front of a nationally-televised audience on NBC’s TODAY show in New York City.
Catchings, who played at Tennessee from 1997 to 2001 and has her No. 24 jersey banner hanging from the rafters of UT’s Thompson-Boling Arena, will try to help the U.S. win its sixth-straight gold medal in Olympic competition. She contributed to the last three gold efforts in 2004, 2008 and 2012.
