A day after picking up graduate transfer cornerback Shaq Wiggins for its 2017 secondary, Tennessee added cornerback Adonis Otey to its 2019 recruiting class.
Otey committed to the Volunteers on Thursday, announcing his decision on Twitter.
Otey (6 feet 0, 175 pounds), from Murfreesboro (Tenn.) Blackman, had attracted big-name attention even in the early stages of the recruiting process. Other offers for Otey included national champion Clemson, Ohio State, LSU, Louisville and a trio of Tennessee’s SEC East rivals: Florida, Kentucky and Vanderbilt.
It’s still more than two years before Otey can take the field in Knoxville, but Vols fans have one more positive sign following a disappointing 2016.
