Rigid rules Mike Mularkey had with Jaguars not what the Titans need now

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- While guiding the 2012 Jacksonville Jaguars to a 2-14 record, players spoke of getting inconsistent messages from a rigid coach.

He fined players $10,000 for talking about injuries, made players line up their helmets in perfect order during stretching and had them stand a specific way for the national anthem before games.

Perhaps he will be less rigid in his third chance at a head coach after a two-year stint in Buffalo and that terrible year in Jacksonville.

I thought many Titans got tight as a result of Ken Whisenhunt’s style, which always seemed a bit hard-line.
