DALLAS, TX- The Temple women's tennis team's season came to a close with today's 4-0 loss to host SMU in the first round of the American Athletic Conference Championship on a hot, windy afternoon in Dallas. SMU took the doubles point and three of the six singles matches to clinch their seventh straight win and will move on to face USF in tomorrow's quarterfinals.
The Owls had won their previous four matches before today and will finish the season with a 10-8 record in a year plagued by injuries and illnesses.
"It was a tough match for us today in conditions we weren't used to, but I'm proud of the way the girls played," said head coach Steve Mauro.
