PHILADELPHIA – Temple women's tennis picked up its first American Athletic Conference victory of the season in Saturday evening's conference opener against the UConn Huskies. The Owls fought through a tough dual to finish with a final score of 4-3.
In doubles play, Yana Khon and Monet Stuckey-Willis were able to grab the only win throughout the three flights. The pair topped UConn duo Gillian Perrotta and Jacquelyn Fitz-Randolph 7-6(3).
Alina Abdurakhimova continued her dominance in the number one singles position, defeating Emma Alderman 6-3, 6-2. Dina Karina, Anais Nassuame and Khon were able to pick up wins of their own in singles play to put the team over the Huskies and secure the win.
