Fran Dunphy Receives 2019 Wanamaker Award

PHILADELPHIA - Former Temple men's basketball coach received Philadelphia sports' highest honor Tuesday, the John Wanamaker Award. Dunphy, who was named the 2019 Philadelphia Big 5 Coach of the Year and inducted into the organization's Hall of Fame on April 15, guided Temple to 270 wins in his 13-year tenure, including a 23-10 record and NCAA berth this season. Earlier this year he received the Gene Bartow Award for his contributions to the game, the Dean Smith Award presented by the U.S. Basketball Writers Association and the Philadelphia Sports Writers Association Good Guy Award.

The all-time winningest coach in Philadelphia Big 5 history with 580 victories, Dunphy led Temple to 10 postseason appearances, including eight trips to the NCAA Tournament.
