With dominating NIT title win, TCU basketball proving it can match school's football, baseball success

NEW YORK -- You cannot buy a TCU basketball jersey on the athletic department's website.

There are 10 different football jerseys to choose from and one for baseball -- but none for basketball.

Perhaps it is a reflection of a program that finished in the bottom half of its conference for so long that it slipped into irrelevancy. No basketball jerseys were offered because supply matched demand.

But change is coming to TCU basketball.

A renovated arena opened two years ago, a big-name coaching hire in 2016, and Thursday night, TCU defeated Georgia Tech 88-56 in Madison Square Garden to win its first NIT championship and finish tied for the second-most wins in a season since 1986-87.
