'We’re not perfect, but we’re working at it': An inside look at the Big 12's Replay Operations Center

IRVING - To the naked eye, West Virginia running back Leddie Brown plowed in for a score, albeit an inconsequential one, with the Mountaineers already routing Baylor.

Up in Morgantown, West Virginia, the head linesman signaled touchdown, but here, 1,200 miles away in the Big 12’s $1 million, secret-location Replay Operations Center, technicians immediately began to scour video evidence.

Fortunately, thanks in part to its two miles of fiber optic, coaxial and Ethernet cabling, the ROC’s screens showed the play within 200 milliseconds of it occurring, or roughly 15 seconds before TV viewers around the country saw it.
