While emphasizing that TCU backs free speech, football coach Gary Patterson took a big-picture view of the NFL's national anthem protests.
"I just want to get back to treating people right and doing the right thing," Patterson said at his Tuesday press conference. "If you don't have anything good to say, don't say anything at all. How about we do that?"
Patterson indicated that he's not taking an activist role on the contentious issue.
"That's the situation that's out there. My job is to take care of TCU and win football games," said Patterson, whose 4-0 team is ranked ninth in the AP Top 25.
