WHAT TO EXPECT

Coach Patterson said sophomore safety Niko Small has had an incredible offseason. Already demonstrating his abilities, Small squatted over 600 pounds, power-cleaned 420 and benched almost 400.

Last season, Small was named TCU's Outstanding Defensive Player during the AutoZone Liberty Bowl. He recorded 12 total tackles against the Bulldogs -- a season best for him. Throughout the season, Small was a force to be reckoned with. In his game against Oklahoma, he tallied 11 tackles. And against Kansas State, he finished with nine.
