WHAT TO EXPECT
With Josh Caraway and James McFarland gone, who's gonna rush the passer? That's where Mat Boesen comes into play. This 6-4 235-pound veteran DE is in the mix among Brandon Bowen and Ben Banogu for Caraway and McFarland's positions.
Last season, Boesen had six sacks, two forced fumbles and carried his weight on a unit that ranked first in the Big 12 in sacks. Two of his sacks came from the Texas Tech game, where he also tallied 10 tackles - a season-best for him.
Boesen, working hard and proving himself in the spring, has the ability to come back and lead this defense to another strong season.
