Schloss is making a change to his weekend rotation, shuffling the same three starters: Nick Lodolo will take the mound tonight for the Big 12 opener, Jared Janczak will take the mound Saturday night, and Brian Howard will take the shutdown role on Sunday. The success of the conference season could hinge on Howard getting back on track.
“He knows what he has to do to be successful,” Schlossnagle said. “He’s been around long enough to know, and he knows himself enough as a pitcher regarding what makes him successful. And he knows when he’s doing that, he can beat anybody on our schedule.
