Report: Jamie Dixon, UCLA continued talks after TCU officials said he'd stay with team

TCU men's basketball head coach Jamie Dixon has made it clear that he's staying put in Fort Worth, but the latest reports suggest the Horned Frogs were closer to having their head coach hired away by UCLA than initially thought.

The Los Angeles Times reported on Tuesday that Dixon and UCLA maintained contact through April 8 -- several days after TCU chancellor Victor Boschini and athletic director Jeremiah Donati both made statements about Dixon's intentions to stay at TCU rather than dart for Westwood.

The latest LA Times report indicated that despite the comments from TCU officials, UCLA remained optimistic through the day of the NCAA national championship game that a resolution could be reached regarding the estimated $9 million buyout on Dixon's TCU contract -- something that had surfaced as stumbling block days prior as TCU wouldn't budge on lowering the amount.
