Tom Herman has made quite a racket with a sledgehammer and his barking about Texas' antiquated football facilities -- lockers that didn't even have 43-inch TV screens until he swung his big stick! -- and it appears to be paying off.
But will Texas' renovation mean results like Alabama's and Michigan's in last week's NFL draft, the ultimate referendum on talent?
Certainly not next year. For that matter, maybe never. Not that it's required. History, even the recent kind, demonstrates that Texas can re-enter the national stage without such outlandish results, consequently dragging the Big 12 with it.
