FORT WORTH -- With roughly four or so minutes left in TCU's practice on Saturday, Gary Patterson decided he'd done enough coaching for the afternoon.
The coach preparing for his 18th season at the helm of the Horned Frogs climbed the steps of Amon G. Carter stadium, shook hands with recruits and posed for selfies. Patterson sprinted down the stands when the clock hit zeroes and to greet his team after the intrasquad scrimmage.
Many of the players who broke a sweat weren't key contributors on last year's 11-win team. That includes sophomore quarterback Shawn Robinson, who's believed to be the leading contender to win the starting job vacated by Kenny Hill.
