Dan O'Dowd, who spent 15 years as the Colorado Rockies GM, currently serves as an MLB Network analyst and will help anchor the network's draft coverage beginning Monday evening. He spoke with Rangers' insider Evan Grant to answer some FAQs about the upcoming draft:
Grant: If you are the Rangers, picking eighth, who are you targeting at this point?
Dan O'Dowd: "I know it's going to sound evasive, but where they are picking, I'm just picking the best player. I've played that game of targeting somebody or a position and if you go down that path, it's pretty difficult.
