ARLINGTON - TCU saw the last of its nemesis, Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield, on Saturday in the Big 12 title game.
Rather than shout good riddance, the Frogs saluted Mayfield after he again ripped apart their defense during a 41-17 win at AT&T Stadium.
"He balls," linebacker Travin Howard said.
Said TCU coach Gary Patterson: "He could probably be a linebacker, because he plays quarterback like a defensive guy. He challenges you."
Patterson delivered that message in a post-game talk with Mayfield. The pair has sparred through the years over just how hard TCU recruited Mayfield, but that was forgotten at the finish.
