Oklahoma ranked fifth, with defending national champion Alabama the unanimous No. 1. Clemson, Ohio State and Georgia followed at Nos. 2, 3 and 4.
Five Big 12 teams qualified, TCU at 16th closest to Oklahoma. No. 21 West Virginia, No. 21 Texas and No. 25 Oklahoma State round out the list.
Texas A&M received 67 votes, good for 31st best.
Alabama received all 61 first-place votes from the panel of major-college coaches. The Associated Press media poll will be released Aug.
