Things could not have started more poorly for TCU in this one. An opening kickoff fumble led to a quick West Virginia touchdown, putting the Mountaineers up 7-0.
On TCU’s next (first) drive, Kenny Hill threw a bad slant pass that was picked off. Just a few plays later, West Virginia was up 14-0.
Fortunately, TCU started to chip away a bit. A field goal, followed by a WVU punt, plus a touchdown pass from Hill to Jaelan Austin put TCU right back in the game at 14-10.
West Virginia would score another touchdown to get us to our halftime score of 21-10.
