Elisha Olabode is celebrating today, as the former TCU cornerback helped lead the Texas A&M-Commerce Lions to their first DII National Title Sunday afternoon. Joined on the staff by Yogi Gallegos, another former TCU player, the Lions defeated West Florida by a score of 37-27.
Olabode, who starred at corner for Gary Patterson from 2009-2013, saw playing time as a freshman for the Rose Bowl winning squad and started 22 games in total. A full time starter his junior and senior seasons, Olabode totaled 152 tackles, five interceptions, 19 PBUs, and three forced fumbles. He was All-Big 12 Honorable Mention as a junior and played two seasons in the IFL prior to joining the Lions’ coaching staff.
