With every college football season comes new beginnings. But it also signals the annual task of replacing talent lost to graduations, transfers and more.

Heading into 2019, TCU football -- coming of a 7-6 finish during the 2018 season -- will be tasked to fill the void left by several veteran playmakers, with the biggest shoes to fill coming on defense. And for a team that has routinely led the charge on defense in recent years within an offense-dominated Big 12 Conference, how head coach Gary Patterson fares in replacing defensive talent will almost certainly factor into how the Horned Frogs finish in 2019.
