FORT WORTH -- Like a whole lot of other people, Sonny Cumbie was more than impressed by Kenny Hill's national TV performance for Texas A&M against South Carolina.
Few weren't. A sophomore making his first start on a Thursday night in 2014, Hill threw for 511 yards and three touchdowns, looking every bit the successor to Heisman winner Johnny Manziel.
While Cumbie appreciated the performance, it wasn't exactly a shock. Then entering his first season as co-offensive coordinator at TCU, Cumbie had followed Hill's career at Southlake Carroll as a Texas Tech assistant.
"When I was at Texas Tech, I recruited the dog out of him," Cumbie said.
