Approximately three hours before the first pitch for the American League Wild Card game at Yankee Stadium between the Yankees and Astros, there are still tickets available. This is according to Mike Francesa of WFAN in New York.
Of course, the Rays have plenty of their own attendance issues, but the team and the area would be skewered by the national media and fans across the country if the Rays failed to sell out a playoff game. And that is in Tampa-St. Pete, a market that is not even in the same neighborhood as New York City.
Meanwhile, by my count, the Rays have sold out 11 of their 13 home playoff games, with the other two just missing.
