Boston Red Sox shortstop Xander Bogaerts left Thursday's game against the Tampa Bay Rays after being hit by a pitch on his right hand in the first inning.

Bogaerts was batting with a runner on first base and one out when a 1-2 pitch by Rays starter Jacob Faria struck his right hand.

Bogaerts was in obvious pain but stayed in the game to run the bases. He was replaced at shortstop in the bottom of the first by Tzu-Wei Lin, who moved over from third base.
