BALTIMORE – The All-Star Game experience was extremely rewarding for Rays first-timers Brandon Lowe and Austin Meadows.
But there were a couple low moments.
Lowe was not pleased that veteran Fox broadcaster Joe Buck mispronounced his last name during the somewhat iconic pre-game introductions Tuesday, saying it as the more common “low” rather than his preferred rhyming with wow.
“I couldn't believe it,’’ Lowe said. “Surprising. On the stage that we were on, to have it mispronounced like that is upsetting.’’
Lowe’s point is a valid one. While local media and PA announcers in road stadiums may get it wrong, the national broadcast crew for an All-Star Game should be better informed.
