In their first 17 games of the season, Rays starting pitchers had pitched with a lead in just 17 innings. And entering Sunday’s game, the offense had scored their fewest runs in the first 17 games of the season since 2001, a team that lost 101 games. But at the same time, there are signs that the bats are coming around.
