Heading into today’s action, the Tampa Bay Rays find themselves on the edge of the postseason. In contention for the second Wild Card, they are in the enviable place of having important pieces, such as Wilson Ramos and Brad Boxberger, set to return by the end of the month.
Considering that 2017 was essentially expected to be a bridge year, the Rays success thus far has been a pleasant surprise. Yet, even with the reinforcements that are on the verge of returning, Tampa Bay still has a few holes to fill.
They already addressed one of these issues with the acquisition of Trevor Plouffe, who is set to take on the right handed hitting portion of their first base platoon.
