The Tampa Bay Rays have placed outfielder, Carlos Gomez, on the 10-day disabled list with a groin strain and selected infielder, Christian Arroyo, from Triple-A Durham.
Arroyo was the prize of the Evan Longoria blockbuster this past winter. The former Giants top prospect spent with the spring with the Rays before being optioned to Triple-A. The 25th overall selection in the 2013 draft, Arroyo rose quickly though the Giants system and made his major league debut this past season. He played in 34 games for San Francisco in 2017 and hit .192/.244/.304 with 3 HR over 135 plate appearances.
