The Tampa Bay Rays made major headlines this weekend as they sent the baseball world into a tizzy over their new pitching strategy, that made the old school and newer breeds of fandom clash.
Sergio Romo started Saturday’s game for the Rays and struck out the side in an inning of work and Ryan Yarbrough came on and gave the Rays six scoreless innings as they cruised to a 5-3 victory. Romo would get the start again on Sunday and again, racked up three strikeouts, this time pitching an out into the second before giving way to the bullpen.
