The Tampa Bay Rays’ early off-season overhaul of the coaching staff is seemingly complete as they have hired former major leaguer and Durham Bulls hitting coach Ozzie Timmons as their new first base coach.

Timmons, 47, played in the major leagues from 1995 to 2000 with the Chicago Cubs, Cincinnati Reds, Seattle Mariners, and lastly with the Tampa Bay Devil Rays in 2000. Timmons played in the minor leagues and independently, hanging up his cleats in 2006.

In 2007, the Rays hired Timmons to be the hitting coach of the Low-A Hudson Valley Renegades.
