The Tampa Bay Rays continue their coaching staff revamp this morning, announcing former Rays farmhand and minor league hitting coordinator Matt Quatraro has been named the new third base coach.
Quatraro was part of the first ever draft class by the then Tampa Bay Devil Rays, as they took him in the 8th round of the 1996 draft. Quatraro would climb his way up the Rays affiliation ladder, reaching Triple-A Durham following the 2003 season, but never making the major league squad.
The Devil Rays requested he come in the work with the catchers following that year, paving the way for his coaching career.
