With no outs in the sixth, Souza swung and missed Dodgers reliever Louis Coleman's pitch. He then began to clutch his chest, which prompted Rays manager Kevin Cash and assistant athletic trainer Paul Harker to check on Souza at home plate.
After a brief conversation, Souza was lifted and Kevin Kiermaier was sent to pinch-hit.
Souza was 1-for-2 in the game prior to his exit, hitting his sixth home run of the season to give the Rays a one-run lead in the bottom of the fourth inning.
