NEW YORK -- Blake Snell said this week his main goal this season has been to throw as many quality starts as he can.
"I'm striving to make every start six innings or more," the Rays left-hander said.
The emphasis lately has been on the more, and Saturday at Citi Field Snell continued his outstanding recent run by shutting out the Mets for 7 1/3 innings in a 3-0 Rays win. It was the fourth straight start in which Snell has finished the seventh inning, and also the fourth straight in which he has given up no more than one run.
