ST. PETERSBURG -- Drew Smyly won in arbitration on Thursday, when a decision came down that the Rays left-hander will make $3.75 million for the 2016 season rather than the $3.2 million salary the team submitted.
In the process, Smyly claimed a raise of $1.1 million after being paid $2.65 million in 2015.
Smyly made just 12 starts during the 2015 season due to a left shoulder injury. He began the season on the disabled list with shoulder tendinitis, returned April 24, made three starts, then returned to the DL with left shoulder soreness on May 9.
