Smyly mows down O's in first spring nod

SARASOTA, Fla. -- Drew Smyly experienced an immaculate first outing of the spring on Saturday night when he retired the side in order each of the two innings he pitched in the Rays' 10-6 win over the Orioles.

The Rays' left-hander looked particularly impressive in the second inning, when he struck out Chris Davis, Mark Trumbo and Matt Wieters -- all swinging.

"That was more or less their Opening Day lineup, at least the lineup they've had in the past," Smyly said. "I think every pitcher goes into spring, into the first game, a little anxious, a little nervous.
