The Tampa Bay Rays plan to give right-hander Alex Cobb a qualifying offer, reports Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports.
The 30-year-old Cobb would earn $17.4 million in 2018 if he accepted the offer, but would be in line for a multiyear deal on the open market. Cobb is one of the more attractive options on a free-agent starter market headed by Yu Darvish and Jake Arrieta.
Cobb posted a 12-10 record with a 3.66 ERA in 29 starts for the Rays in 2017, his second season following Tommy John surgery.
