The Rays look like they're set to introduce another experiment with their pitching staff: Using Sergio Romo as a starting pitcher.
Romo is expected to start Saturday against the Angels, although Tampa Bay still has not formally listed its starting pitcher for the game. The veteran relief pitcher has never started a game in his 11-year Major League career.
Manager Kevin Cash did seem to indicate Friday during an MLB Network Radio appearance that the Rays plan to start Romo.
"I can tell you this: Sergio Romo's really excited about this," Cash said.
