Brendan McKay showed what he he can do on the mound Saturday when he made a dazzling major-league debut, retiring his first 16 batters in throwing six scoreless innings.
Tonight he gets to show what he can do at the plate, getting a start as the DH for the Rays against the Orioles.
McKay has been a two-way player throughout his high school and colleges careers, and during his parts of three seasons in the Rays minor-league system. He has played first base much of that time, but the Rays this season decided to limit him to DH duties, usually for three days between his once-every-sixth-day starts, with a day off on either side.
