Part of manager Kevin Cash’s message to the team before Friday’s first full squad workout was the importance of the players being good teammates.
As if to add an exclamation point to that message, RHP Chris Archer ended the meeting by presenting CF Kevin Kiermaier with a gift from the team — a painting of the catch Kiermaier made Aug. 31, 2015, to rob the Orioles’ Manny Machado of a home run at Camden Yards.
“We spent all this time talking about being a teammate, and that’s the ultimate thing,” Cash said. “I didn’t know he was going to do that, but that solidified everything that took place this morning.
