RHP Alex Colome rarely smiles. Add that to a 6-foot-2, 220-pound frame and a mid-90s fastball, and you have one intimidating late-inning reliever.
“He does look mean, man,” manager Kevin Cash said. “I would not want to see him in a back alley. He’s the nicest guy in the world. It’s unbelievable.”
Work, work, work
The Rays worked on relays and cutoffs Sunday and will work on base running and bunting this week during the remaining two games at Charlotte Sports Park.
These usual spring training drills will continue throughout the regular season.
“But we do intend throughout the course of the year, especially homestands, to get on the field a little bit more,” Cash said.
