The Rays traded for right-handed pitcher Trevor Richards on Wednesday as part of a four-player swap with the Miami Marlins. Before the clock struck 4 p.m. — the official deadline for all trades — Tampa Bay made a move for Richards and his Miami teammate, Nick Anderson. In exchange for the two right-handed pitchers, the Rays sent right-handed bullpen arm Ryne Stanek and outfield prospect Jesus Sanchez to Miami.

Team-friendly
This is only Richards’ second major-league season. Like other acquisitions, Anderson and Jesus Aguilar, the pitcher is earning a modest salary and still has several years of team control.
