ST. PETERSBURG -- The Rays closed out April on Saturday night with a win that typified the month, which is to say it wasn’t easy.
It took a gutty effort by a starting pitcher, who didn’t receive much in the way of run-support.
It took a near-lock down effort by the bullpen that actually allowed a run.
It took a lot of hitting from Logan Forsythe, who drove in a pair of runs and whose appearance in the on-deck circle in the bottom of the ninth inning probably influenced the outcome.
And it took a grind-it-out ninth that began when Brad Miller hustled up the line to beat out a grounder to first and ended with a game-winning hit from the slumping Curt Casali.
