ST. PETERSBURG —The benches- and bullpen-clearing scuffle at the end of Tuesday's Rays-Nationals game actually started nearly three weeks ago.
That's when Washington's Michael A. Taylor stole third base in the sixth inning with a 9-2 lead and Romo on the mound.
So when Romo struck out Taylor for the final out of the Rays 1-0 win Tuesday, Romo let him know, in some apparently descriptive words, how he felt about it, which led to both benches emptying and some pushing and shoving.
"I think I said enough out there," Romo said. "Self-explanatory, I think. No disrespect to that team, no disrespect to their coaching staff, no disrespect to anybody on that team other than the person I felt disrespected me and my team.
