Marc Topkin reported Thursday that the Rays appeared unlikely to sign No. 31 pick Shane McClanahan. The deadline to sign this year’s draft picks is 5 p.m. Friday. If he doesn’t sign, the Rays will get the No. 32 pick in the 2019 draft.

Brandon Lowe ended his lengthy homereless streak in Durham’s 6-3 win over Charlotte. After not homering since June 29, Lowe went deep to give the Bulls two insurance runs in the ninth. He also walked and scored in the first and doubled and scored in the third.
